Bealach na Ba

Applecross is a small crofting and fishing community on the picturesqe coast of Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands. Applecross is made up of several small townships dotted around the coast of the Applecross peninsula. The Peninsula is famous for being accessed by one of the highest and most spectacular roads in Britain the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle).

Applecross Bay

Applecross offers stunning scenery combined with a rich heritage. Applecross is one of the oldest Christian sites in Britain and is second only to Iona in importance. St Maelruba founded a Monastery in Applecross in the fifth century and established Applecross as a sanctuary (A'Chomraich). The Applecross Heritage centre now offers a unique insight into the History of the area for those who wish to know more.

Sand bay 3 miles South of Tigh Ruaraidh

The Applecross peninsula is in one of the most scenic parts of the Scottish Highlands. On the West of the peninsula there are views from sandy bays across the Inner Sound to Raasay, Rona and Skye against a backdrop of the Cuillin mountains.From the North the Torridon mountains can be seen and on clear days the views extend to Lewis and the Outer Hebrides. The sandy bay in the picture is just 3 miles from Tigh Ruaraidh.
